Rafael Leao has also been linked with a more to north London, but it is Manchester United who have made their first move to sign the AC Milan forward. Michael Carrick is also eyeing up Newcastle pair Sandro Tonali and Lewis Hall. Ederson, from Atalanta, is expected to be their first new arrival to replace Casemiro. Incoming Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is set to be given far more control of new signings than his predecessors, but his first business could be the exits of Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella, who are both attracting interest with Spain, and Alejandro Garnacho, who is simply not wanted. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen are both of interest.

Tottenham are finalising the free signings of Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, and have reignited interest in Savinho and Morgan Gibbs-White, as they discuss tying Joao Palhinha down to a permanent deal. Liverpool are set to appoint Andoni Iraola as their new manager, while work is done on signing Yan Diomande, who has verbally agreeing to leave Paris Saint-Germain. Chelsea make Acheampong untouchable

Chelsea have rejected multiple transfer approaches for highly-rated young defender Josh Acheampong.

The youngster found himself limited to just 17 Premier League appearances, eight of which were starts, and only completed 90 minutes on one occasion, a goalless draw at home to Crystal Palace in the first match of the season.

Despite his fringe role last campaign, though, Chelsea have no plans to sell the talented defender. Standard Sport understands the club has rebuffed multiple approaches for Acheampong’s services from clubs in England and Europe.

He has been dubbed untouchable ahead of Xabi Alonso’s move to west London.

Atletico 'expect Arsenal to make Alvarez bid as contact made'

Atletico Madrid expect Arsenal to make a move for Julian Alvarez.

Barcelona remain keen admirers of Alvarez, and appear to be Arsenal’s biggest rivals for the player’s signature.

However, Atletico are reportedly refusing to do business with Barca after growing frustrated with media coverage around their player’s future.

Spanish out RAC1 reported on Tuesday that Barca’s first bid, worth €100 million (£86.4m) was rejected by Atletico, who will continue to block the player’s move to Camp Nou.

That leaves Arsenal in pole position.

The same report claims that the Gunners have been in contact with Alvarez’s agent and Atletico are now waiting on official talks to begin.

Atletico have set their asking price at €150m (£129.6m), which would be break the record spent by a British club - surpassing the £120m Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak last summer.

A supposed source at Atletico was quoted by Libertad Digital said of Alvarez’s admirers: “Two weeks ago it was PSG, last week Barcelona, now Arsenal. We count on Julian for next season.”

Chelsea make transfer decision after target 'has training ground tour'

Chelsea owners BlueCo have no interest in signing Stade Reims goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, writes Sam Tabuteau and Dom Smith.

Reports in the French media have claimed the 20-year-old has visited Chelsea’s Cobham training ground, but Standard Sport understands that is not the case, and that BlueCo have no interest in signing the goalkeeper for either Chelsea or Strasbourg.

Jaouen has impressed this season in Ligue 2, the French second division, which has led to contact between his representatives and a number of European clubs.

But while BlueCo scouts have tracked him as one of many young goalkeepers playing regularly at a high level in Europe, sources maintain interest will not escalate into a move.

Chelsea weigh up Cambiaso move

Chelsea are closely monitoring Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso.

The Blues' interest is linked to uncertainty surrounding Marc Cucurella’s future, who is attracting interest from Spain.

Juventus are not actively looking to sell the 26-year-old, but Gazzetta dello Sport reports that a significant offer worth €50m (£43.2m) could force them to reconsider their stance.

Cambiaso remains under contract until 2029 and has attracted interest from several top European clubs in recent years, including Manchester City and Barcelona.

Yan Diomande has yet to commit his future to either Paris Saint-Germain or Liverpool, report Sky Sports Germany.

Both clubs are keen on the highly rated youngster, with Liverpool pushing hard to secure an agreement before the World Cup.

Barcelona lodge first Alvarez bid

Barcelona believe they are closing in on a deal to sign Julian Alvarez, despite Atletico Madrid’s public stance.

Atletico Madrid questioned reports of an offer from their La Liga rivals over the weekend, but Barcelona maintain that a formal bid worth £86.5 million has been made.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that Alvarez has already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with Barcelona, although the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement on a transfer fee.

The Catalan side appear to be Arsenal’s strongest rivals in the race to sign the Argentine forward, who is no stranger to the Premier League after spending two seasons at Manchester City. During his time in England, Alvarez scored 36 goals, and he has continued his impressive form at Atletico Madrid with 49 goals to date.
