January window is heating up as Premier League giants plot big moves
Transfer news LIVE!
The January transfer window is well underway as some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs look to pull off huge mid-season moves. Arsenal need to strengthen their attacking options and are said to have an eye on Bryan Mbeumo, while they are also believed to be interested in the likes of Nico Williams and Matheus Cunha as they also reportedly work on a deal for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.
Chelsea are trying to boost their own centre-back options by chasing the return of Marc Guehi, while Kobbie Mainoo has also emerged as a shock target. Manchester United have been boosted in their pursuit of Nuno Mendes, while Tottenham have been linked with a shock swoop for Marcus Rashford, who is being pursued by a number of other suitors including AC Milan.
Liverpool may be back in for Joshua Kimmich and Manchester City are working to sign Vitor Reis along with Omar Marmoush and Abdukodir Khusanov, with West Ham after Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall following the announcement of Graham Potter as their new manager today. Manchester City working on deals to sign Omar Marmoush and Abdukodir Khusanov.
That’s according to the Athletic who claim while no agreements have been reached with either club, talks are advancing.
City endured a torrid first half of the season, so perhaps a double signing can help get them back on track.

It’s official! Graham Potter is the new West Ham United head coach.
The former Chelsea, Brighton and Swansea boss has been appointed on a two-and-a-half year deal and is happy to be back in football management.
“I am delighted to be here. It was important to me that I waited until a job came along that I felt was right for me, and equally that I was the right fit for the Club I am joining,” he told the club’s official website.
“That is the feeling I have with West Ham United.”

Chelsea will have to pay a huge sum if they want to tempt Manchester United into selling Kobbie Mainoo.
The Blues have emerged as surprise leading contenders in the race for the England midfielder, who is said to be unhappy with the current contract terms on offer at Old Trafford.
Reports have suggested that United may be willing to listen to offers for homegrown stars such as Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho - and indeed almost every current member of their first-team squad.
But according to The Mirror, Chelsea and any other suitor would have to stump up around £70m in order to persuade United into selling their academy graduate, with whom the Red Devils are said to be confident of agreeing a bumper new contract that could see his weekly wage rocket from £20,000-a-week to £200,000-a-week.

Joshua Kimmich could be Liverpool’s ideal replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The England right-back’s future at Anfield is still subject to enormous doubt with Real Madrid pushing to seal a cut-price January transfer rather than wait to sign him for free when his current contract expires in the summer.
While Liverpool have not given up on agreeing an extension with Alexander-Arnold, along with Mohamed Salah and captain Virgil van Dijk, they would be foolish to not be doing due diligence over a potential successor.
Long-term target Kimmich may now be back in the frame, with German publication Bild reporting that the Bayern Munich stalwart - also out of contract at the end of this season - is under consideration for a switch to Merseyside.

Tottenham continue to be linked with a shock move for Marcus Rashford.
The England forward looks set to leave Manchester United in the current transfer window after his high-profile dropping from the squad by new boss Ruben Amorim was followed by him publicly admitting that he needed a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Rashford’s future looks set to dominate the January headlines, with the player’s camp having been in Italy this week for talks with the likes of AC Milan, Juventus and maybe even a surprise contender in Cesc Fabregas’ Como.
Borussia Dortmund and Galatasaray are among the other possible contenders for Rashford, who is said to have already rejected big-money moves to Saudi Arabia.
The Daily Mail report that Tottenham also want to take the 27-year-old on loan as they look to strengthen their attacking options, with any deal dependent on the size of the loan fee and how much of his rumoured £325,000-a-week wage United are willing to cover.

Manchester United look to have been handed a massive boost in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes.
The Portuguese international seems to have emerged as Ruben Amorim’s priority transfer target for his first window in charge at Old Trafford as he looks to find a versatile left-sided defender to fit his tactical system.
Mendes has reportedly seen talks over a new contract at PSG stall, handing United extra incentive.
According to Foot Mercato in France, the former Sporting Lisbon star is “very interested” in moving to Manchester after snubbing the latest offer of an extension at the Parc des Princes.

New defensive recruits may also be on the radar at Arsenal in January, with claims that they are plotting a bid for Ronald Araujo at Barcelona.
The Uruguayan centre-back has only just returned from a serious hamstring injury suffered while on international duty at the Copa America tournament in the United States over the summer.
However, it seems that there is doubt over Araujo’s long-term future at the Camp Nou as Barcelona look to upgrade their defensive options.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim that Arsenal are currently weighing up a swoop for Araujo, but they better get in fast with Serie A giants Juventus believed to be looking to seal a loan agreement for his services soon.

Arsenal are keen on a deal for Brentford’s star forward Bryan Mbeumo, reports suggest.
The Gunners’ need for attacking reinforcements has been clear for all to see of late, with signings likely needed up front both this month and in the summer.
Mbeumo is now on Arsenal’s transfer shortlist according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky in Germany, having scored 13 goals in the Premier League so far this term.
However, it seems that any deal for the in-form Cameroon international would be more likely to happen in the summer transfer window.

Bayern Munich could enter the race to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Kicker claim that the Bundesliga giants are monitoring his situation at Liverpool and could swoop to try and secure a free transfer this summer.
It’s claimed that Alexander-Arnold would be one of Bayern’s top targets if Joshua Kimmich, who is also out of contract at the end of the season, leaves the club.
