The transfer window is now open again following the start of this summer’s Club World Cup with clubs able to accelerate deals ahead of the new season.
Florian Wirtz is now officially a Liverpool player after agreeing a record £116.5m deal for the German superstar and completing the medical on Friday, while Reds defender Jarell Quansah is set to go the other way in a £35m deal to join Bayern Leverkusen. Liverpool, who have already brought in Jeremie Frimpong, now turn attention to Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, who looks set to complete his deal this week.
Arsenal have agreed to pay above the release fee for Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, while Mikel Arteta has made RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko a priority - though talks have stalled somewhat. The Gunners have submitted an initial offer for another forward option – Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres – while Chelsea’s Noni Madueke emerging as a surprise alternative target.
Manchester United, who have secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m, are negotiating with Brentford about Bryan Mbeumo, having submitted an improved offer. Tottenham, meanwhile, had been keen to reunited the forward with Thomas Frank but could switch their attentions to Eberechi Eze.

Burnley have confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Max Weiß from Karlsruher SC on a four-year deal.
The 21-year-old signs for a reported fee of €5m and is their first acquisition ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Arsenal are exploring a deal to sign Christian Norgaard from Brentford, according to The Athletic.
Norgaard wants the move, which would be worth approximately £9.5m.
He is among the options to potentially replace Thomas Partey, contract at the club has entered its final days.
Norgaard could be the second notable switch to North London from the Bees, joining the rivals of former boss and new Tottenham manager Thomas Frank.

Copenhagen are reportedly closing in a deal to sign Youssoufa Moukoko on a permanent transfer.
Moukoko became the youngest goalscorer in Bundesliga history at the age of 16 years and 28 days in 2020/21, having lit up German youth football.
However, he never reached the heights expected of him in Dortmund and after an underwhelming loan spell at Nice, is expected to move on permanently, according to Fabrizio Romano.

New signing Jeremie Frimpong has no doubt he has the ability to fill the “big shoes” of Trent Alexander-Arnold in Liverpool’s defence.
"It's big shoes but it's Liverpool, it's a big team who win trophies for a reason,” he told Sky Sports. “If you play for Liverpool you have to fill in the shoes and perform.
“I've always believed in myself. I'm a winner. That's what I'll bring. The Premier League is the best league in the world. I grew up in Manchester so I always wanted to come back. It was always the plan.
"I know what being a champion is like at Bayer Leverkusen so joining a champion team is a privilege, especially for Liverpool. To go from watching them to playing for them is crazy. The manager has told me how I can help the team and he really likes me as a player. It's given me extra motivation and belief."

Liverpool will have a buy-back clause in their £35m sale of Jarell Quansah, but they’ll have to spend a pretty penny to sanction it.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the clause will be worth over £50m and will not be available until 2027.

Ryan Reynolds says he cannot picture Paul Mullin playing in anything other than a Wrexham strip after the striker joined Wigan on loan.
“I can’t imagine seeing Mulls on loan and in another kit,” Reynolds posted on X.
“We wouldn’t be where we are without his heart, skill and work ethic. We love you, SPM (Super Paul Mullin).”
Mullin scored 110 goals in 172 games for Wrexham as they rose from non-league to the Championship

Sunderland have asked Sassuolo about the availability of 26-year-old French winger Armand Lauriente, according to ESPN.
Lauriente was one of the standout players in Serie B last season, scoring 18 goals and providing six assists in 33 games.
Like Sunderland in England, Sassuolo are newly promoted to Italy's top-flight, winning Serie B last season.

Spanish sensation Nico Williams has told Athletic Bilbao that he fully intends to leave the club to sign for Barcelona.
That’s according to The Athletic, who cite a £50m release clause in his contract.
