FC Bayern are continuing to work intensively on the squad of the future and are increasingly focusing on top international talent. According to the latest reports, the German record champions have set their sights on a 16-year-old high-flyer from the MLS. Borussia Dortmund are apparently also in the race
As the portal SportsBoom reports, both FC Bayern and BVB are interested in Adri Mehmeti, who is currently under contract with New York Red Bulls. The central midfielder is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in US soccer
But the two top German clubs are by no means alone in their interest
According to the report, several European heavyweights have set their scouts on the 16-year-old. In addition to Bayern and Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Arsenal and Chelsea FC are also said to be keeping an eye on the young six-man
The portal even speaks of a „veritable army of observers“ who are currently keeping a close eye on the youngster
Chelsea in particular are said to be one step ahead of many of their rivals, with the Londoners having held informal talks with the player’s entourage, according to the report

However, one club could have a decisive advantage in the race for Mehmeti: as the New York Red Bulls are part of the Red Bull soccer network, RB Leipzig are said to have priority access to the talent
According to SportsBoom, a move to Leipzig is therefore currently considered the most likely scenario if Mehmeti makes the leap to Europe
The great interest in the youngster is no coincidence: Mehmeti has made a remarkable start to his MLS career
The midfielder has featured in New York’s starting eleven in each of the first three games of the new season, setting up a goal in the 2-1 win over Orlando City and the 1-0 victory over New England Revolution
However, a quick transfer is likely to be difficult as Mehmeti still has a long-term contract with the New York Red Bulls until the end of 2028
Should several top European clubs show serious interest, the MLS club could demand a correspondingly high transfer fee for its home-grown talent. However, one thing is already clear: the 16-year-old’s performances have put him on the radar of Europe’s elite at an early stage.
