FC Bayern are pressing ahead with their plans for the coming summer transfer window and are once again looking to the Premier League. The record champions are keeping a close eye on Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United
In the BILD podcast„Bayern-Insider“, head of soccer Christian Falk confirms that the England international is high on the record champions‘ list
Bayern are specifically looking for reinforcements in attack – in particular to relieve Luis Díaz. However, according to Falk, Gordon would be much more than just a classic backup. The 25-year-old’s versatility is particularly impressive. „He could play behind Díaz, he would be a Kane replacement and he could also play on the right,“ explained Falk. It is precisely this flexible profile that makes him so interesting for Munich
FCB are apparently pursuing the approach of signing a player who can cover several roles at the same time, a concept that is becoming increasingly important in times of rising transfer costs

As promising as the Englishman’s profile is, the implementation of a transfer is proving difficult. Newcastle United are demanding up to 90 million euros, a sum that is well above Bayern’s expectations. According to Falk, Munich see their pain threshold at around 60 million euros
It is therefore clear that without creative solutions or movement on the part of the club, a deal is likely to be difficult to realize
Nevertheless, those responsible at Säbener Straße sense an opportunity, as Newcastle are currently only 14th in the Premier League and are in danger of missing out on the international places
In addition, the Financial Fair Play rules could force the club to act. As was suggested in the podcast, Newcastle could be forced to generate revenue in the summer – a potential advantage for FC Bayern
The attitude of the player himself also plays an important role. According to reports from England, Gordon is open to a move, which could further strengthen Munich’s negotiating position
One thing is clear: FC Bayern is positioning itself early in the poker game for Gordon. The conditions are basically in place – but the financial framework makes the deal complicated
Whether the Munich club will ultimately strike again in England will largely depend on how willing Newcastle actually are to compromise.
