Transfer problem for Bayern: Zaragoza rejects lucrative offer | OneFootball

For FC Bayern, the signing of Bryan Zaragoza has long since turned out to be a multimillion-euro mistake. The Munich club would like to offload the winger for good this summer. But that very plan is proving increasingly difficult. Now, the Spaniard has apparently turned down a lucrative offer.

At FC Bayern, planning for the new season is in full swing. While club officials no longer see much need for action on the signing front, there is still plenty to be done on the transfer-out front.

Bryan Zaragoza is among the most prominent players slated for a sale. The 24-year-old no longer plays a role in Vincent Kompany’s sporting plans and is allowed to leave the German record champions if a suitable offer comes along.

However, a potential transfer apparently fell through because of the player himself. As reported by *kicker*, Zaragoza has turned down a “lucrative offer” from a non-European country.

The trade magazine does not provide further details about the interested club or the financial terms. As a result, the Spaniard remains under contract with FC Bayern for the time being. His contract at Säbener Straße runs through the summer of 2029.

Bayern is looking for a permanent solution for Zaragoza

For sporting director Max Eberl, the situation is thus becoming an increasingly tricky task. Bayern would like to sell Zaragoza permanently and thereby recoup at least part of their original investment.

In the winter of 2024, the Munich club secured the services of the attacking player from FC Granada. Originally, Zaragoza was not scheduled to join Munich until the following summer. However, due to injury problems in the attack at the time, the transfer was moved up by half a year.

According to media reports, FCB invested a total of around 17 million euros in the Spanish player.

From a sporting perspective, the signing has not paid off at all so far. Zaragoza has never been able to establish himself consistently in Munich and has made only seven competitive appearances for the German record champions to date.

Even several loan spells failed to bring the hoped-for breakthrough. Through CA Osasuna, Celta Vigo, and AS Roma, Bayern attempted to give Zaragoza playing time while simultaneously stabilizing his market value. However, this did not lead to any long-term sporting prospects.

By now, there’s hardly any doubt left at Säbener Straße about how the club’s leadership plans to handle Zaragoza. Along with João Palhinha and Sacha Boey, the winger is among the players the club has encouraged to seek a transfer.

Max Eberl made no secret of this during preseason. “We’d like to let these players go; they’re having a hard time with us. Nevertheless, they naturally have the right to train with us and give it their all. But we have other ideas for our overall planning,” explained the sporting director.

To make matters worse for Zaragoza, he has been unable to make a lasting impression during preseason so far due to physical issues. This makes it even harder for the Spaniard to prove his worth to potential suitors.

At the same time, time is slowly running out for Bayern. Although there are still a few weeks left until the end of the transfer window, no concrete solution is currently in sight.

As a result, this multi-million-euro misunderstanding threatens to drag on. If a suitable buyer isn’t found by Deadline Day, Zaragoza could remain part of Bayern’s roster even after the summer transfer window closes, despite his lack of sporting prospects.
