This article follows the Transfer Saga concerning Lazio’s interest in Napoli’s Michael Folorunsho. The 26-year-old Italian midfielder has been linked with a move to the Biancocelesti since April of 2024.

The 26-year-old spent two years among Lazio’s youth ranks, representing the club’s U17 and U19 sides. He was then sold to Francavilla in 2017 before signing for Napoli in 2019. Since then, the Italian has been constantly on loan, representing the likes of Bari, Pordenone and Reggina.

However, after a series of experiences in Serie B, Folorunsho finally had his breakthrough in the top flight. He cemented himself as one of the best revelations in Serie A last season while on loan at Verona. The attacking midfielder scored five goals for the Gialloblu, including some stellar strikes, eventually earning himself a surprise call-up for Italy’s ill-fated Euro 2024 campaign.

Michael Folorunsho’s move from Napoli to Lazio will go down to the wire. Presidents Claudio Lotito and Aurelio De Laurentiis are likely to have a meeting to try and come to an agreement, which has been the problem since the beginning of August. The Biancocelesti want a loan with an option to buy clause, while the Partenopei want a loan with an obligation to buy clause.

Yet, the player has given his preference to Lazio and is willing to wait for his former employers to secure an agreement with Napoli.

The Partenopei are eager to sell wantaway midfielder to make room for new arrivals; President Aurelio De Laurentiis has requested €12 million in addition to bonuses. As for the Italian midfielder, he currently earns €1 million per year following his recent renewal, and he would expect a net salary of €1.3 upon his return to the Italian capital.
