Transfer window winners and losers so far - where do Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool & Man Utd rank? | OneFootball

With just under four weeks to go of the 2026 summer transfer window, which of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and co. are doing the best with their business so far?

It’s been a busy summer for the big six, with the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham still showing considerable spending power even without having European football to offer in the 2026/27 season ahead.

Elsewhere, Liverpool and Manchester United have arguably been a bit quiet, so that’s perhaps a bit of a win for title favourites Arsenal and Manchester City, though they’ve also had slightly mixed windows themselves.

Here’s our attempt to rank the big six’s transfer windows so far, from worst to best…

Manchester United – 4/10

OUT: Rasmus Hojlund, Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, Andre Onana (loan)

While the signings of Tielemans and Santos look quite promising, they’re not exactly the game-changing midfield duo fans will have been crying out for. There had been bigger dreams, such as Elliot Anderson, according to Ben Jacobs, while that deal for Ederson also notably collapsed after issues around his medical.

Elsewhere, there’s been a worrying lack of investment in defence and attack so far. A new left-back is surely a must as the ageing Luke Shaw continues to struggle for fitness and form. At the other end of the pitch, Marcus Rashford’s future is still not resolved.

Liverpool – 4.5/10

IN: Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz

OUT: Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate, Andrew Robertson, Rhys Williams

Not yet good enough from Liverpool, especially considering all those players who’ve left the club, but there are perhaps still some reasons to be optimistic.

Jeremy Jacquet looked a terrific talent at Rennes and should grow into a key defensive player to help replace Ibrahima Konate, while Victor Munoz is also a fine young talent who can make an impact in both the present and future.

Meanwhile, as per Fabrizio Romano’s X post above, it also seems that LFC are the leading contenders to sign Bradley Barcola this summer. The Frenchman is one of Europe’s top attacking talents, and still only 23, so could be ideal to build around for many years to come.

Chelsea – 6/10

IN: Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha, Marco Palestra, Jordan Henderson, Danny Welbeck, Valentin Barco

OUT: Marc Cucurella, Andrey Santos, Tyrique George, Alejandro Garnacho (loan)

It’s been busy as usual for Chelsea, but there’s arguably still work to be done, particularly in terms of trimming down this rather inflated squad. The likes of Liam Delap, Nicolas Jackson, Jamie Gittens, and Romeo Lavia are surely surplus to requirements, and there are more than a few others who they might struggle to fit in.

Morgan Rogers and Maxence Lacroix look like superb signings, in fairness, but the Blues need more ready-made Premier League stars like that, rather than this strange combination of inexperienced youngsters like Valentin Barco and Geovany Quenda and Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck.

Manchester City 6.5/10

IN: Elliot Anderson, Jeremy Monga,

OUT: Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake, Sverre Nypan (loan)

Things started promisingly enough with the signing of Elliot Anderson in a big-money move from Nottingham Forest. The England international is undoubtedly one of the best in the world in his position right now, so Manchester City have done well to get there before anyone else could.

Still, it looks like Anderson will be replacing Rodri, which is perhaps not ideal, especially considering that other experienced big names like Bernardo Silva and John Stones have also already followed Pep Guardiola out of the Etihad Stadium exit door.

Perhaps after the big spending on Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi in January, there isn’t as much need for City to go overboard now, but considering some of the names they’ve lost, you’d perhaps expect to see a bit more in terms of incomings.

Tottenham 7/10

IN: Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andrew Robertson, Martin Dubravka, Marcos Senesi

OUT: Luka Vuskovic, Alfie Devine, Will Lankshear, Tynan Thompson, Alejo Veliz

Tottenham have spent big, but they’ve also spent smart – Tonali and Fernandes are huge signings to immediately upgrade their midfield, and it’s well known that they beat other big clubs to their signatures. Van Hecke should also be a superb signing in defence, and Robertson and Dubravka are shrewd free transfers to add depth to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.

Arsenal 7.5/10

IN: Christos Tzolis, Piero Hincapie, Illan Meslier

OUT: Leandro Trossard, Christian Norgaard, Jakub Kiwior, Karl Hein

Arsenal have so far signed Christos Tzolis for what looks potentially like a bargain, directly replacing Leandro Trossard. Piero Hincapie’s loan has also been made permanent, while Illan Meslier adds depth on a free transfer.

Bruno Guimaraes should also be officially announced imminently, and that’s another superb piece of business, with the Gunners bringing in one of the best midfielders in the Premier League to combine with an already strong trio of Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

The players leaving shouldn’t cause too much of a concern for the club, but there’s perhaps still room for a bit more money to be made to fund the big-name signing this team is still lacking in attack.
