Trevoh Chalobah, once a leading target for Valencia CF in 2021, has been called up by Thomas Tuchel for England’s World Cup after Tino Livramento sustained a hamstring injury.
According to Superdeporte, José Bordalás wanted a defender that summer and the Englishman was among his preferred options, but Valencia never completed the signing.
Since then, Chalobah’s career has accelerated, his valuation rising to €40 million. The Chelsea defender is now considered out of reach and has just delivered a strong season in London.
Tuchel turned to him following Livramento’s setback, which meant the British coach could not select Livramento for the tournament.
Chalobah, 26, is not expected to start, yet he could make his World Cup debut in the coming weeks, especially if England win their first two matches.
