There was also confusion off the pitch, more specifically in the VIP box area of the East Stand at the Estádio do Dragão. After FC Porto’s second goal, scored by Victor Froholdt, several fans in the stand below the boxes became involved in a heated exchange of words with people in those boxes, with some of the more agitated supporters trying to access that section.

The prompt intervention of several PSP officers was needed to bring the situation under control, although it remains unclear what sparked the disturbance. What is certain is that, for several minutes, attention was focused on that area of the stadium.
