West Ham have been linked with a move for Troy Parrott from AZ Alkmaar

West Ham completed the signing of Joel Veltman following his exit from Brighton earlier this summer, and the big question is whether or not Troy Parrott is going to be the next player through the door.

The Hammers have not been particularly active so far this summer in terms of new signings, but the 34-year-old could be the start of a number of incomings.

Nuno Espírito Santo will want to build a team capable of winning automatic promotion back to the Premier League next season.

The London outfit finished 18th in the top flight in 2025/26, leading to their relegation to the Championship.

One player that has been linked with a possible move to the London Stadium is Troy Parrott, whose future is up in the air at the moment.

Here we round up all the latest news surrounding Parrott’s future amid West Ham’s interest…

Parrott made the switch to Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the 2024 summer transfer window, arriving from Tottenham Hotspur after a loan spell with rivals Excelsior.

During his time with the Eredivisie side, he has contributed 30 goals and six assists from 56 appearances, which has fuelled speculation over a possible move this summer.

And it’s been reported by the Independent that Alkmaar have set an asking price of £25 million for the Ireland international as he attracts attention from across Europe.

AC Milan were among the clubs linked with a move earlier this summer, although their signing of Gonçalo Ramos has likely ended that interest for the time being.

It has been reported by talkSPORT that West Ham are pushing hard to complete the signing of Parrott in these final weeks of the window.

The Hammers are keen on a deal for the 24-year-old as they look to bolster their attacking options before the 1 September deadline.

Fulham, Como, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven have all also been credited with an interest in the striker, although Real Betis have pulled out of the race.

It’s believed that Spurs will receive 20 percent of the fee as part of a sell-on clause negotiated from his sale.

West Ham issued Troy Parrott warning

Former football scout Mick Brown has claimed that West Ham will have their work cut out for them in convincing Parrott to make the switch back to England.

He believes it will be a very difficult deal to complete, as he may want to remain on the continent after enjoying so much success in the Netherlands.

"It looks like it would be a very difficult deal for West Ham to do," said Brown, via Football Insider.

"A lot will depend on the player and what West Ham are willing to promise him, because he would be guaranteed minutes and they obviously are aiming to win promotion.

"The problem is, Parrott is like a lot of players I've seen in the past, where the move away from the Premier League and into Europe has really suited his game.

"He's been able to develop away from that spotlight that comes on every player in English football, and by all accounts he's been excellent over in the Netherlands.

"I believe he has made up his mind that he wants to stay on the continent, especially when you look at some of the clubs showing an interest.

"It was always going to be difficult for West Ham to tempt him after they dropped into the Championship, and that will certainly be the case here if a big offer comes in from a European club.

"That's not to say there is absolutely no chance of a deal, stranger things have happened in football, but it looks to me like he would prefer to stay away from English football."

West Ham stance on breaking Championship record

It’s been reported by the Daily Mail that West Ham are willing to break the Championship transfer record to seal a deal for Parrott.

The forward has been given a £25 million asking price, and the Hammers are ready to pay above the £17.5 million record that currently exists.

However, it remains to be seen whether they will meet the demands of AZ Alkmaar, or if they will seek a compromise.

The Championship side have three weeks left in the window to complete the move, but it remains unclear if Parrott would be willing to make the switch to the London Stadium.
