Yacouba Koné was carried off on a stretcher at Angers as Troyes lost 0-2 in Ligue 1, with a serious knee injury feared.

The forward entered in the 73rd minute for Jérémy Le Douaron and departed in the 78th, replaced by Kandet Diawara. According to L'Équipe, head coach Stéphane Dumont did not specify the issue but fears an anterior cruciate ligament rupture.

Dumont said it was Koné’s knee and described it as the kind of injury no footballer wants. He added that losing a player alongside the match was a heavy blow and that the staff were pessimistic.

If that proves accurate, the setback could keep Koné out for months.

The 19-year-old Ivorian joined Troyes in February.
