Anatoliy Trubin’s gloves from the night he headed past Real Madrid in the Champions League have gone on display at Benfica’s museum.
According to Glorioso 1904, the gloves worn by the 24-year-old were delivered to the Cosme Damião Museum, located near the Estádio da Luz.
The display commemorates 28 January, when Benfica beat the Spanish giants 4-2 at the Luz in the regular phase of the UEFA Champions League, a result that sealed progression to the competition’s playoff.
In the final act of that match, the Ukraine international advanced into the opposition box and scored a stunning header, a moment that quickly travelled the world.
The museum’s official accounts shared a photograph of the item on Instagram and X, describing it as a unique moment and noting that Benfica’s history is written every day.
This season Trubin, valued at 28 million euros, has made 40 appearances for Benfica, 22 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Champions League, two in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,555 minutes, the No 1 has scored one goal and conceded 32.
