Anatoliy Trubin was an unused substitute for the fourth straight match as Benfica thrashed Casa Pia 7-0 in Rio Maior, with his demeanour on the bench drawing attention.

Record writes that the 25-year-old appeared distant throughout and barely reacted, even staying seated when Pavlidis completed his hat-trick, unlike some team-mates.

Samuel Soares kept his place in goal. Since arriving at Benfica, Trubin had not previously gone more than three games without starting, a run that came in 2024/25 when he lost the spot to the Portuguese.

His future at the Estádio da Luz remains unclear. Juventus had shown strong interest but are instead set to take Guglielmo Vicario on loan from Tottenham with an option to buy around €10 million.

After full time, Trubin went over to console former Benfica colleague André Gomes, who conceded seven. The pair shared a dressing room between 2023 and 2025 before Gomes joined Casa Pia permanently. With Samuel Soares increasingly established, competition for the Benfica gloves looks fiercer than ever and Trubin’s future is an open question.
