Celtic of course hold a 3-0 advantage from the first leg, but even then, the USA International isn’t taking anything for granted.

Trusty said: “Yeah, you can’t be cocky, you can’t be too full of yourself. Football is a crazy environment where if you give teams momentum, they can take it. And they’re at home next game, so we’ve just got to go there and play our game,” The Scotsman reports, with the Celtic fan media still disgracefully banned by the Celtic Board.

“But we’ll have the Celtic fans hopefully cheering us on and we’ll be good. It’s a good result, it gives us momentum. We have a good number of goals to have some momentum going with us in the next game.

“But it’s another 90 minutes to go and all eyes are on the next game.”

Trusty is wary of the Austrians ability to open up defences with long balls from deep positions, and says he and his fellow defenders need to be on full alert to shut out the threat. The American believes his relationship with Cameron Carter-Vickers will be vital in the challenge ahead on Tuesday night in Linz.

The big centre back said: “Yeah. They like to play the ball in behind. The first one was offside. It’s a good hit there. Then there was the one he missed. But yes, look back at their plays and it’s just second balls and one ball over the top.

“Sort that out and then I think we will be solid. We’ll take it. Me and Cam have good chemistry. All of us in the back line have good chemistry.

Trusty also had high praise for young full back Colby Donovan, and goalkeeper VilJami Sinisalo.

Colby Donovan coming in, doing a solid job. And then Vil, leading from the back behind us. So, I’m really happy with this.”

Trusty said of Donovan: “He’s very aggressive. Last year in the Europa League, he and I had a good partnership on the right side, when I was playing on the right side. I think he’s really good.

“He’s really young but you think he’s a lot older than he is. He’s very young and has a lot of potential. He performs well on the big stage too, so that’s what you want to see.”

Trusty is clearly impressed with the 19 year old who is standing in for the injured Alistair Johnston, and believed it’s a testament to the strength of the Celtic squad.

The 27-year-old commented: “Yes, totally. That’s the squad you want. You want people to be able to step in and do a job.

“Only 11 people can start, and then only five subs, but anybody that comes into the game, we have a squad where people can actually affect the game. It’s not really a big drop-off, so it’s been a good place.”

Trusty also had praise for the strikers, in particular Camilo Duran who scored a terrific brace to put Celtic on the front foot in the tie.

He continued: “It was good showing from the guys up front on Wednesday. That’s what you want to see, especially as a defender.”
