Beganovic unimpressed with penalty call in Pirates defeat

TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic has voiced his displeasure with a penalty decision against his team in their 2-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers were awarded a penalty early in the first half, much to the visible frustration of the Rockets tactician on the touchline.

Evidence Makgopa converted to hand Pirates the lead in the 20th minute, before Tshegofatso Mabasa rounded up the scoring in stoppage time.

In the wake of the defeat, the Bosnian mentor refused to delve deep into the matter but is adamant the penalty call was dubious.

“You know, we can talk about that [penalty incident] but it has already passed. We can’t do anything [about it]. We can’t remove that penalty, a penalty is a penalty, we conceded a goal and that’s it,” said Beganovic.

“Decisions are decisions, it’s already finished. We will just waste time if we talk about it. I think everybody saw. I think it’s not [a penalty] but it’s already finished.

The result saw Galaxy’s five-game unbeaten run in the league come to an end as the team dropped to seventh place on the log standings.

Beganovic’s men will now shift their focus to their Carling Knockout Cup round of 16 clash against rookies Orbit College at Olympia Park Stadium on Saturday.
