Orlando Pirates clinched their record-extending fourth consecutive MTN8 title following a 3-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
The two teams couldn’t be separated in regulation time in what was a tightly contested affair of last season’s replica of the deciding match in the same competition.
With both teams deadlocked after 90 minutes, second half substitute Tshepang Moremi, who was brought on in the 84th turned the game around.
The new Bucs signing opened the scoring in the 92nd minute, pouncing on a delightful pass from the creative spark in Oswin Appollis.
Pirates swiftly doubled their lead through striker Tshegofatso Mabasa after a brilliant passage of play between in-demand Relebohile Mofokeng and Moremi, who assisted the second goal 11 minutes later.
While the game looked set to conclude, Appollis staged a final moment of brilliance as he set up Moremi for his brace in the 110th minute.
As a result, the Buccaneers became the first team in PSL history to score three goals in the extra time of the MTN8 final.
In addition, Abdeslam Ouaddou won his first-ever trophy in charge of the Sea Robbers as he was under pressure to defend title.
