England have already booked their place at the World Cup, and head coach Thomas Tuchel was clear when asked about his side’s biggest names.
The former Chelsea manager said he wouldn’t take five No. 10s to the World Cup. England have plenty of talent in that role, but it seems he’s prepared to make the tough decision to leave out one or more of Jude Bellingham, Morgan Rogers, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer or Eberechi Eze. Tuchel stressed that keeping the team’s structure intact is more important than trying to fit all his top players onto the pitch at once.
“At the moment, if we keep the structure, they can’t all play together,” Tuchel told TalkSport."They can, but not in the structure, not for the balance that we developed. Not for the structure that also comes with wingers who are like specialists in their positions."
Tuchel explained that the team’s approach is well established, with England currently lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation that strikes the right balance between defence and attack.
"We will always do what's best for winning, we will always do what's best for balance and we will try to keep the clarity, even if it means that we have to take tough decisions.
"We take tough decisions in any camp and this will not change when we go to a tournament."
