Tuchel gives latest injury update on Man City’s O’Reilly after missing Czechia game | OneFootball

Thomas Tuchel says England will “try everything” to get Nico O’Reilly fit for their upcoming clash with Croatia after the Manchester City youngster missed the win over Czechia through injury.

O’Reilly was unavailable for the victory but Tuchel confirmed he will remain with the squad in the hope of recovering in time for at least one of England’s remaining two fixtures of this international window.

“I cannot say yes but I cannot say no, that’s the honest answer,” Tuchel said when asked if O’Reilly could face Croatia.

“He was not available today, was not on the bench, so we have three days now and we will try everything and push everyone to be available.

“We used, already, every outfield player and it’s only the second match so we need everyone and of course it’s an important match that is coming up.

“Every match from now on is important and of course against a direct competitor so hopefully Nico and Ezri (Konsa) can come back but for today they were not available.”

Tuchel also explained why O’Reilly has not returned to Manchester City for treatment, as would normally be the case during a standard international window.

“In a normal window if you’re not available, like Nico O’Reilly, you would go back to your club, get your treatment and be available as fast as possible, but now we have three matches to play so he stays with u,” he said..

“He stays even though he was injured and not available today because we have two more matches and we want to take every possibility and every chance that he’s available for one of these two matches minimum, maybe both of them.”
