On injuries

“Callum (Hudson-Odoi) has no issue at all, full training.

“Thiago (Silva) made his first training with the team but did not finish the last exercise, just to be taking no risk.

“I assume he trains today but not at 100 per cent so he will not join us for Liverpool.

“Tammy (Abraham) had some problems with his ankle yesterday so we will see.”

On his time at Chelsea so far

“I am enjoying it. I am tired in the evening when I go to bed which is a good thing.

“It is quite demanding, we have a lot to learn and many things to adapt.

“My personal life is not too easily, sitting alone in a hotel room so to live in this bubble it feels like a double or triple bubble but job wise, it is a great experience.”

“It was a choice of alternatives – who starts and who comes from the bench.

“He lacks a little of luck, Tammy. Once the last touch comes back and he fights for it, he will be a player we push forward.”

On Chelsea getting to Manchester City’s level

“There is no time in football, though we wish for it, we want to be a part of the transition.

“We feel ready for that and like I said, we have every right to be confident. We have played Madrid and Man Utd, two big opponents and two performances showed we can compete on that level.

“We are always ready to win these games.”

On the race for the top four

“We still have 12 matches to go, the result tomorrow will not be the end of the race for the top four.

“It is of big importance, I hope we can show up with the same mentality and attitude like the tough challenges we have had so far.”

On relationship with Klopp

“Of course we know each other but not as good as everybody expects.

“We never met in Mainz and then I was his successor in Dortmund so naturally, did not meet.

“Of course we meet when there is a farewell game for a player in Mainz, it is a lot of fun to talk to him.

“We meet at coaches meetings, UEFA meetings and we use the time to have lunch or dinner together. He is super nice to talk to and a very interesting man.”

On Liverpool

“I am pretty relaxed.

“I am pretty sure Liverpool miss their fans, I know from experience the impact the Anfield crowd has on their team.

“Yes, they have dropped points, many times not deserved and they have had some unlucky results.

They are one of the best teams in Europe but we are confident we can go there and do what we have to do to win.”
