Turkish giants Besiktas are prepared to make an official offer to sign one of Manchester United’s out-of-favour stars, according to Aspor.
The Red Devils recently had their opening training session under new manager Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese was spotted working with a 3-4-3 system and there was a surprise with Antony operating in the right wing-back position.
The 24-year-old has been a fringe player over the past year and he is reportedly looking forward to leaving United for regular game time.
Besiktas failed to sign Antony on loan last summer, but they are prepared to make another ‘official offer’ for the Brazil international in January.
Amorim does not consider him as part of his long-term plans. He has his sights set on landing Sporting CP’s Geovany Quenda as Antony’s replacement.
The former Ajax star has struggled to adapt since his move to United. He has bagged just 12 goals in 87 appearances across all competitions.
The Red Devils made a huge outlay of £82 million to sign him in 2022. The club have no choice but to cut their losses on him in the near future.
He is currently valued at just £17m by Transfermarkt, and United may want to increase his transfer valuation by sending him out on loan in January.
Antony has opened the door to joining Besiktas who could guarantee him regular minutes in the right wing position in the second half of the season.
However, a loan deal could largely depend on United agreeing to contribute part of his wages.
Antony earns £200,000 per week at United. By contrast, Ciro Immobile and Rafa Silva are the highest earners at Besiktas on a weekly package of £159,000.
Their next highest earners receive £66,000 weekly. Besiktas may not contribute over £100,000 per week for Antony and United may have to compensate them for the move to materialise.
