According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Fenerbahce have officially started talks with Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez over a potential summer move.
The 33-year-old veteran is set to leave the Spanish giants after the FIFA Club World Cup, and his next destination is now becoming a hot topic in the transfer market.
Vazquez, known for his versatility on the right flank, has attracted plenty of interest.
While earlier reports linked him with clubs from Saudi Arabia, as well as Spanish sides like Girona, Rayo Vallecano, Mallorca, Espanyol, and Sevilla, it now seems Fenerbahce are leading the race.
The Turkish giants have stepped forward and initiated formal discussions in the hopes of securing the experienced winger on a free transfer.
Reports have mentioned that Fenerbahce, now under former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, are serious about bringing the Spaniard to Istanbul.

With Mourinho at the helm, the club is keen to build a squad capable of competing at the top level both domestically and in Europe.
The interest in Vazquez does not come as a surprise. His experience, leadership, and ability to play in multiple roles – either as a winger or a right-back – make him a valuable asset for any team.
At 33, he still has plenty to offer, and a Bosman transfer suits Fenerbahce’s current recruitment model.
While talks with Fenerbahce have officially begun, Vazquez has not made a final decision yet, as he is committed to finishing the Club World Cup with Real Madrid on a high.
Meanwhile, offers from other leagues, including the MLS and Saudi Arabia, are also on the table.
Whether he chooses the challenge of Turkish football or looks elsewhere remains to be seen, but Fenerbahce are certainly making their move at the right time.
