Twine out: 2 deals Burnley can be expected to make before the EFL kick-off on August 9th

This pair of deals is quite likely to happen in Scott Parker's first summer in charge at Turf Moor.

Burnley are fairly well set up to be a leading contender for promotion in the next Championship season, but that doesn't mean that they are going to remain quiet in the transfer market.

Given just how good they were when they went up, it was amazing to see the extent to which the Clarets were schooled in the Premier League. They'd had their 100+ point season thrown right back in their face, and were told to go away and improve before going back to their teacher.

While, on paper, Burnley still have many players who, at times, showed real glimpses of promise in the top flight, despite the fact that they were rarely able to put it all together, their new boss still has some convincing to do.

Scott Parker's record in the Championship is a very good one, but, if he does guide them back to the Premier League, that's when the concerns will start, as a result of his previous stints as a boss at that level.

They will face stiff competition for those top spots in the league, and they will need to make sure that they have their ducks in order before the new campaign rolls around, less than a month from now. Getting these deals done before then will likely be part of that preparation.

Lorenz Assignon arrives

Right-back is certainly a position that Burnley need to target, and they have a known entity that they are reported to be going after in Lorenz Assignon.

The Frenchman has returned to his parent club Stade Rennais after his short-term loan spell at Turf Moor in the latter part of the 23/24 campaign.

They aren't expected to be alone in the chase of Assignon. The 24-year-old is reported to be a target of Danielle De Rossi's Roma, as per Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian journalist claims that Burnley would want to buy him, and it's a deal that they should look to do.

Scott Twine leaves

Scott Twine celebrates for Burnley

It's pretty universally felt that Scott Twine will leave Turf Moor this summer. He's back in Lancashire with the Clarets for pre-season training, and he could end up impressing Parker to the point where he stays, but there are certainly a queue of clubs that would like to buy him.

He was on loan at Bristol City for the second half of the season, and their manager, Liam Manning, has made it clear that he would like to have Twine back at Ashton Gate for next season. Bristol Live reported that he wants to rejoin the Robins, and that he'd been using their training facilities over the off-season period.

Sunderland have also been mentioned as a potential new home for the creative player, who joined the Clarets for £4 million from MK Dons two summers ago, as well as League One side Birmingham City, as per Alan Nixon.

It'd certainly be a surprise to see the 25-year-old wearing Claret come the time when Burnley travel down to Luton to face the Hatters in their first game of the season.
