Inter Milan have been undertaking the whirlwind process of trying to replace Simone Inzaghi as coach.

The 49-year-old officially departed the club on Monday. He made the switch to Al-Hilal.

And it is certainly no secret that the Nerazzurri’s main target to replace Inzaghi would be Cesc Fabregas.

However, there is also no guarantee that Fabregas will agree to join Inter.

Inter are not putting all of their eggs in the Fabregas basket, therefore.

And the two names that top the Inter shortlist for if the Spaniard remains at Como are both familiar ones.

First of all, the Gazzetta notes, there is Genoa coach Patrick Vieira. The 49-year-old had spent two and a half seasons with the Nerazzurri in the latter half of the 2000s.

Then, there’s a player who shared a dressing room with Vieira for three and a half seasons. Christian Chivu, now coaching Parma, closed out his career with six successful seasons with Inter.

And the Romanian then coached the Nerazzurri at various youth team levels before impressing in his first senior job at Parma.
