FC Barcelona have made an impressive start to the season, sitting comfortably at the top of the La Liga standings. They also have a strong chance of securing direct qualification to the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League.
However, their recent performances have fallen short of expectations. The Blaugranes have managed to collect just one point from their last two league outings, suffering a defeat to Real Sociedad and settling for a draw against Celta Vigo.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, visibly frustrated with his team’s lackluster showing in the most recent match, did not hold back during the post-match media talk. He acknowledged the team’s struggles and emphasized the need for immediate changes.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Hansi Flick acknowledges that Barcelona is no longer performing at the same level as earlier in the season. To address this, he plans to reintroduce two key elements that defined their early-season success.
Restoring the team’s ability to apply high-pressure tactics immediately after losing possession is a top priority for the German tactician. Additionally, Flick aims to enhance the team’s transitions by advancing the ball more efficiently from the back.
The German coach made it clear that changes are necessary, as he addressed the press following the draw against Celta Vigo. Unlike his softer tone after the team’s previous subpar performances, he struck a much more forceful note during this press conference.
The dip in performance first became evident in the second half of the game against Espanyol. While Barcelona managed a convincing 5-2 victory over Red Star Belgrade, their display was far from their best.
The situation worsened further in their last two away games, with a loss to Real Sociedad and a draw against Celta Vigo highlighting the team’s struggles. However, it remains to be seen whether Flick can successfully reintroduce the two key elements that made his side so effective during the early stages of the season.
