Two late Leeds United options as deadline ticks down

Leeds United look unlikely to add a second signing before the seven pm deadline, though they remain alert to late openings.

According to Leeds Live, Jorgen Strand Larsen’s £48 million move to Crystal Palace looks set to go through, with Leeds refusing to go above £40 million. He was seen as a rare market opportunity and a long-term investment rather than a short-term fix.

Any pivot would only happen if value and numbers align. Daniel Farke has cautioned against swelling the squad, and with two loans out and only Facundo Buonanotte in, scope might be one more at most.

Goalkeeper looks unlikely with four already in place, although it was not on the radar earlier in the window. Farke hinted at concerns after Saturday’s defeat to Arsenal, saying the board know his stance, he will not air it publicly, and the club always seek quality, especially in weaker areas. The situation thought settled in the summer with Lucas Perri appears to be unravelling, yet a move today still seems remote.

Left-back cover is the other focus, with Jack Harrison’s loan to Fiorentina leaving no left-footed understudy to Gabriel Gudmundsson. Talk of Ben Chilwell is baseless, and any arrival would need to be a genuine opening that fits quality, character and affordability, with willingness to fight for a place. Tight PSR room and a wish to protect harmony mean Farke will only pursue players fully committed to Leeds.
