During the last January window, Iván Marcone swapped the blue of Cruz Azul for the blue and yellow of Boca Juniors in hopes of being able to impress enough to make the Argentina squad for the 2019 Copa America tournament.
While he ultimately fell short of his goal, Marcone did earn just his second international call-up and his first cap in a friendly against Morocco back in March.
The media in Argentina now claim despite signing a four-year deal after his €7.5m move, Marcone is ready to leave Boca Juniors and return to Mexico.
A return to Cruz Azul is very much possible and Marcone has also been linked to a move with rivals América to be a like-for-like swap for Guido Rodríguez, who is certain to be moving to Europe in January.
Now it is being reported that both Tigres and Monterrey are also interested in signing Marcone.
While a Cruz Azul comeback remains the most likely move, América reportedly have many options to replace Rodríguez, so it would not be a devastating blow to not land Marcone.
