The elections at Real Madrid will be decided on Sunday, and rivals Florentino Perez and Enrique Riquelme are doing their best to sway the minds of members beforehand with the promise of big names and bombastic signings. For his part, Riquelme has also followed a policy of bringing in a number of former players and legends on board too.
The first that was announced was former captain and Castilla manager Raul Gonzalez, who Riquelme declared would be his sporting director. Albeit without a defined role yet, he has also announced that another former captain in Fernando Hierro will be part of his campaign too.

Over the last 24 hours, Riquelme has also added another former captain to his ranks in Iker Casillas, who was a contemporary of Hierro during his time in the first team. They were managed by Vicente del Bosque to great success in the early 2000s, and Riquelme has also confirmed to Cadena Cope del Bosque will also have a role in his Real Madrid, should he win. Del Bosque’s role would appear to be as a more hands-off advisor, while Casillas would take on a significant role within the sporting structure.

While not a captain, Toni Kroos certainly holds a strong hold on the hearts of Madridistas. In recent months, he has been in talks with Florentino Perez and Real Madrid to return to the club as an advisor on football decisions. Cope also report that Riquelme is attempting to seduce Kroos into joining his campaign too. Kroos, who has always been direct and outspoken as a player, but also on his podcast, is highly respected in the Spanish capital, and his opinion carries significant weight among Madridistas.
