Napoli have lost Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for some time but are reportedly making strides in the negotiation with him, and Alex Meret is also closer to securing his permanence at the club.

According to Mediaset, the Azzurri had a summit with the agent of the Georgian star in Rome last week. They set the stage for a renewal until 2029. His annual salary would go €1.5M to €6M annually. The release clause should be set at €80M, with the two parties meeting halfway.

The announcement about Kvaratskhelia could arrive by the end of December if there are no hiccups, while the one with Meret should take a while longer. The fixed sum might not deter his suitors, though. The most determined ones are Manchester United and PSG, who could offer even higher wages, while Barcelona are a little behind in the race.

The Partenopei brought in the Pastorello brothers, who represent the goalie, on Thursday, Alfredo Pedullà informs. There was no handshake, but the player will prioritize them above other options. If it happens, it’ll be a two-year renewal, until 2027, with a potential option. The gap between offer and request shrunk.

According to Sky (via Tuttomercatoweb), the Azzurri won’t spend big in January but rather pursue some additions on loan.

Our Take on Napoli, Kvaratskhelia, and Meret

They are getting in a dangerous zone with the latter, but perhaps they are on good enough terms that they’ll be able to negotiate until the end. The other renewal would be better than nothing to quiet the chatter, but the threat of a team activating the release clause would quickly be looming. It’d be almost a cop-out, which wouldn’t be a new thing for them.
