WSL giants Chelsea and Arsenal are among the clubs monitoring USWNT star Trinity Rodman, according to reports.

The 22-year-old has been with Washington Spirit since 2021 when she was selected as their second pick in the NWSL draft. She won the Championship with them that same year as she was named US Soccer’s Young Female Player of the Year.

Rodman has just one year remaining on her contract with the Spirit and journalist Tom Bogert claims Arsenal and Chelsea are among a number of clubs monitoring her situation. Should she become a free agent, she will not be short of suitors having played a crucial role in the USWNT’s pursuit of Olympic gold last summer.

Rodman represented her country at youth level in numerous age groups before she was called up to the senior side for the first time ahead of their 2022 SheBelieves campaign. She earned her first cap in February that year and scored her first goal a few months later in April in a friendly against Uzbekistan.

The forward, who now has 46 caps to her name, isn’t the only USWNT star attracting interest from the WSL as national teammate Naomi Girma is the subject of a transfer pursuit from Chelsea this transfer window. Widespread reports indicate the Blues are closing in on a world record deal to sign the 24-year-old from San Diego Wave.

Chelsea and Arsenal are currently battling it out at the top end of the WSL table, with Sonia Bompastor’s side leading the charge. Chelsea are currently seven points clear of their London rivals in the standings and the two sides face each other this weekend in a blockbuster clash at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal have recently confirmed Renee Slegers as their permanent head coach after the Dutchwoman’s successful stint as interim boss. Slegers took charge of the team after Jonas Eidevall stepped down from his role back in October just a matter of days after the two teams last met.
