Central Seville turned txuri-urdin from early Saturday as Real Sociedad supporters gathered hours before the Copa final against Atlético de Madrid. According to Diario Vasco, terraces filled first with those who had spent the night nearby.

As the sun warmed the city, breakfast coffees and hot chocolate were replaced by beers and stronger drinks. Families and groups of friends led the first chants through the centre.

What began in small clusters swelled with the arrival of the banda de Anoeta, landing en masse to boost the backing for La Real.

The songs usually heard at the Amara ground on the club’s big days echoed around the Andalusian capital. Buses kept dropping supporters close to the centre, arriving either from Gipuzkoa or via the airport.

With each arrival, the blue-and-white tide spread across streets and squares, creating scenes hard to forget ahead of the final.
