Tyler Adams: United have not given up on Bournemouth ace

Manchester United are in major need of surgery in the middle of the park, with several stars set to depart at the end of the current season.

Casemiro has already announced his decision to leave, and INEOS are also keen to get rid of Manuel Ugarte, with the Uruguayan attracting interest from Turkiye and Italy.

Given Mason Mount’s injury record, it would not be a surprise to see the Englishman’s stay get cut short while Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo’s contract situation remains dicey.

Which is why the Red Devils have plans to bring in more than one midfielder in the summer, with INEOS keen to recruit players from within the Premier League.

Tyler Adams remains on the club’s wishlist

The club’s top targets include Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Sandro Tonali. United certainly cannot afford to buy two from this list given the costs involved; hence, the co-owners are on the lookout for a more economical yet quality option.

According to The Daily Mail, Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams remains on United’s watchlist despite his injury struggles this season.

The American had to be stretchered off after five minutes during the Cherries’ game against the 20-time English league champions earlier this season.

United scouts were reportedly watching the game to see if the USA international could cut it against the likes of Casemiro and Fernandes, but his injury meant the scouting operation remained incomplete.

Economical yet quality option

Until now. The 27-year-old has returned from his medial ligament tear earlier than anticipated, and the Old Trafford side remain keen should he show no signs of wear and tear during the rest of the campaign.

The former RB Leipzig ace is valued at around £40 million and would represent a steal in today’s market.

“United will continue to monitor Tyler Adams’ situation at Bournemouth after the US international returned to action following a serious knee injury sustained at Old Trafford in December.

“At around £40m, Adams would be a cheaper option than some of the other midfield targets being considered by United, including Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton.

Tyler Adams fits the bill perfectly

“The 27-year-old was hoping to impress against United in December, but limped off within the first five minutes after tearing the medial ligament in his left knee blocking a shot from his old RB Leipzig team-mate Matheus Cunha.”

After returning for Bournemouth’s last two games against West Ham and Sunderland, Adams was quoted as saying, “It wasn’t ideal. You dream of nights playing at Old Trafford against Man United. Those are the biggest games you can play in the Premier League, and something like that happens.”

Tyler Adams plays as a defensive midfielder and has two goals and one assist to his name this season. He has been a key cog under Andoni Iraola and is perfectly suited to their high-pressing game — just what United need in their new midfield recruit.
