Tyrick Mitchell attracts Manchester United and Liverpool interest

Manchester United and Liverpool are showing growing interest in Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell, with his contract situation potentially opening the door to a January move.

According to TEAMtalk, Mitchell is entering the final year of his Palace contract and is due to become a free agent in summer 2027. The report states that a January transfer is increasingly possible if the defender does not agree fresh terms with the Eagles.

Manchester United are understood to be keeping a particularly close eye on the 27-year-old. The club are looking at options at left-back and reportedly regard Mitchell as an experienced Premier League player who could provide an immediate solution.

A move in January could also be financially more manageable because of Mitchell’s contract situation. TEAMtalk reports that United consider him a more affordable alternative to Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall.

Liverpool are also monitoring the situation. Reports have linked the Reds with a possible move for Mitchell as they assess their options at left-back, while his status as a homegrown player could also be useful for squad registration.

Chelsea are another club reported to be interested in the England international, meaning Palace could face competition for Mitchell’s signature if he decides against extending his stay at Selhurst Park.

Mitchell has made more than 200 league appearances for Palace and has established himself as one of the club’s most experienced defenders. Palace are keen to retain the academy graduate and are working towards a new contract.

However, if an agreement cannot be reached in the coming months, Palace could face a decision over whether to consider a January sale rather than risk losing Mitchell without a transfer fee when his contract expires.
