Brazil was reduced to 10 men as early as the 15th minute after Vitor Fernandes was sent off. Despite the setback, the team managed to create a few chances, notably through Rhuan Pablo and a disallowed goal by Felipe Morais. On the Italian side, Valerio Maccaroni and Federico Stefanoni threatened, while Tommaso Campanello missed two clear opportunities in the second half.

In the penalty shootout, Italian goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni heroically saved two Brazilian spot-kicks. Alessio Baralla then converted the decisive penalty to seal victory for Italy. This marks Italy's best result since 1987, while Brazil falls short of claiming a fifth U17 world title.
