The Egyptian U20 national team takes on their Japanese counterparts this Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 20:00 GMT in the opening match of Group A at the FIFA U20 World Cup Chile 2025.

FIFA has announced the officiating team assigned to ensure the smooth running of this opening encounter. Argentine referee Darío Herrera will take charge of the proceedings.

The 40-year-old is a seasoned official, having been an international referee since 2013. He will be supported on the touchlines by Navarro Cristian and Savorani José, with Portugal’s João Pinheiro serving as the fourth official.

The Pharaohs are determined to kick off their campaign with a win before facing New Zealand (September 30) and Chile (October 4) in the second and third rounds of the group stage.
