Morocco will be aiming to salvage African football’s pride on Wednesday as they face France in the semi-finals of the U20 World Cup.
The "Lion Cubs" will be looking to break their losing streak against "Les Bleuets," who have defeated them three times in previous meetings.
In 2015, during the Toulon Tournament (Maurice Revello Tournament), Morocco fell to France by a score of 3-1.
The second encounter between the two nations took place in Morocco in 2017 and ended in a 1-1 draw.
Seven years later, the North African side lost 5-4 to "Les Bleuets" in a match held at the Clairefontaine training center in France. Morocco’s goals were scored by Ayman Arguigue (2), Ismaïl Aoued, and Yasser Zabiri.
Coaches Mohamed Ouahbi and Bernard Diomède are expected to field the following starting elevens:
Morocco: Benchaouch - Zahouany, Bakhty, Baouf, Maamar - El Haddad, Khalifi, Byar, Maamma - Zabiri, Yassine.
France: Olmeta - Bourgault, Zidane, Kamara, Beyuku - Leborgne, Benama - Bermont, Michal, Touré - N'Guessan.
