Leeds United Under-21s round off their Premier League Cup Group Stage campaign on Friday evening, as they welcome Birmingham City Under-21s to the LNER Community Stadium.
The Whites sit third in the Group H standings, knowing a win over the Blues could still see them qualify for the knockout rounds should other results go their way.
Scott Gardner’s side started the competition with a well-deserved point away at Charlton Athletic before earning a victory over Stockport County, but found form hard to come by in their next three outings.
Back on Premier League 2 duties, United have won once and lost once in their previous two encounters, firstly beating Everton 3-1 away from home thanks to a Rhys Chadwick brace and a Cian Coleman goal.
Midfielder Coleman was again on target last time out for the Whites, but two earlier strikes by West Ham proved the difference for the Hammers in York.
Fourth-placed Birmingham’s record after four matches reads one win, one draw and two defeats, though the Blues can likewise still progress should results go their way.
When the two sides met in November, it was City who came out on top with a 3-2 triumph in the Midlands, despite late goals from Chadwick and Connor Douglas.
Action from the LNER gets underway at 7pm.
