Úbeda awaits Cavani to finalise Boca’s line-up, no further changes expected

Still without Miguel Ángel Russo back due to his health situation, Claudio Úbeda will take charge of another Boca training session and will finish shaping the team that will look to return to victory against Newell's after two matches. As every Thursday, La Bombonera was the venue for the formal football training, in which a starting eleven began to take shape, with the main uncertainty being the possible return of Edinson Cavani.

The captain is making steady progress from the strain in his right psoas, and after missing the draw with Central Córdoba and the loss to Defensa y Justicia, his chances of being among those called up for Sunday are increasing.

In any case, caution is needed: his presence on the list, and especially the possibility of him starting in place of Milton Giménez, is unlikely since he did not train alongside his teammates in the afternoon session.

If Úbeda chooses to have him on the bench, all signs point to Russo's "interim" coach (they have communicated that they plan the matches together, nonetheless) maintaining the same Boca lineup that lost in Florencio Varela. In fact, for much of the training, he tested that team.

Towards the end, Sifón put Ander Herrera into the starting lineup, and the Spaniard emerges as a possibility to get more minutes on Sunday after his return against Defensa y Justicia following a little over three months out.

The thing is, Carlos Palacios, a starter for the coaching staff, is still not recovered from the injury to his left pectineus and will miss another match. Awaiting Thursday's practice, for now the idea is that Alan Velasco will once again start in his position on the left side of midfield against Newell's, a key clash for matchday 11 of the Torneo Clausura as they look to regain ground in the annual standings.
