UEFA confirmed a €15,000 fine for Real Madrid over racist behaviour by supporters during the Benfica play-off second leg at the Bernabéu.

The governing body also ordered a partial closure of 500 seats in the south stand, suspended for one year, with further punishment possible in the event of a repeat.

The fine may be linked to footage of a Madrid fan making a Nazi salute.

The match finished 2-1 to Real Madrid, with goals from Aurélien Tchouaméni and Vinícius Júnior. Rafa Silva scored for Benfica, and the result sent the Spanish club through.

The tie had already been marked by controversy in the first leg, when Vinícius Júnior accused Gianluca Prestianni of racially abusing him, prompting a strong debate after that game.
