UEFA issues provisional one-match ban to Prestianni before Real Madrid game

UEFA has handed Prestianni a provisional one-match suspension ahead of Benfica's trip to Real Madrid.

UEFA confirmed on Monday, 23 February that the 20-year-old is banned for one game, so he will not be available at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The decision, for Wednesday, 25 February, does not pre-empt the outcome of the disciplinary process opened over alleged racism towards Vinícius Jr.

Prestianni had told the Benfica hierarchy he was ready to play, and José Mourinho had been counting on him. The head coach must now find an alternative.

This season he has made 30 appearances for Benfica, 18 in Liga Portugal Betclic and seven in the Champions League, plus two in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 1,460 minutes he has two goals and one assist. He is valued at 12 million euros.
