Valencia are in a bleak spell, six successive seasons without Europe and more than 2,000 days since their last continental game, a 10 March 2020 meeting with Atalanta in Mestalla. The drought is hitting hard financially.
UEFA published its 2024-25 club competition financial report on Wednesday, setting out prize distributions under the new format.
Barcelona collected 116.5 million euros from the Champions League, ahead of Real Madrid on 101.8, Atlético Madrid 84.9 and Girona 29.9. Champions Paris Saint-Germain led overall with 144.4 million, followed by Inter 136.6 and Arsenal 116.9.
Barcelona, beaten by Inter in the semi-finals, ranked fourth.
Slovan Bratislava earned the smallest Champions League share, 21.8 million, from a 2,467 million fund split among 36 clubs. In the Europa League, Tottenham led with 41.3 million and Manchester United had 36.4, with Lazio on 24.1 and Athletic Club 23.9. Real Sociedad made 18.7.
Chelsea won 21.8 million as Conference League champions, with runners-up Betis on 17. The report says distributions are based on 4,400 million euros for 2024-27, with 387 million in costs, 3 per cent for qualifying rounds and 7 per cent for solidarity. Net income is 3,550 million, 93.5 per cent to clubs and 6.5 per cent retained. Actual 2024-25 income is put at 4,410 million and costs at 363.1, creating a surplus not yet redistributed, with 25 million assigned to EFC under a memorandum of understanding.
