UEFA Women’s Europa Cup Preview: VfL Wolfsburg vs. SK Sturm Graz | OneFootball

VfL Wolfsburg host SK Sturm Graz on Wednesday evening in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup playoff tie. Before next week’s return leg in Austria, the She-Wolves would hope to secure a comfortable win in front of their fans.

Since making their European debut in the 2012/13 season, this will be the first time Wolfsburg will not play in the Women’s Champions League. Stephan Lerch’s side were knocked out of the premier competition after a penalty shootout defeat to Inter.

They suffered another setback in the weekend as a 2-1 defeat in Hoffenheim ended their perfect Bundesliga start. The result saw the seven-time Frauen-Bundesliga winners drop to third place behind FC Bayern and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Meanwhile, Sturm Graz are at the top of the ÖFB Frauen Bundesliga standings as they only dropped two points after seven matches. Tode Djaković’s side reached this round after a 7-2 aggregate win over Lithuanian outfit Gintra, who have won every league title since 2005.
