Uganda national team preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have been dealt with a major blow as players boycotted training due to unpaid player bonuses.

Head Coach Paul Put and his technical team prepared the training on Friday in Rabat, Morocco but the squad returned to the hotel without doing any drills.

A resolution meeting between the players and Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) President Magogo Moses Hassim, didn't yield any progress.

Uganda will be desperate to resolve the internal issues with their group stage opener against Tunisia on Tuesday, 23 December looming.

Notably, history is repeating itself for the Cranes as the same dispute happened during the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, days before their crucial Round of 16 clash against Senegal, who eventually knocked them out.

Meanwhile, in addition to Tunisia, the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Tanzania are in Group C alongside the troubled Uganda.
