Uganda have written the most historic chapter in their youth football journey qualifying for the U17 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 for the very first time after shock 1-0 victory over Senegal in the Round of 32.
The decisive moment came early: Abubakali Walusimbi struck in the 15 minute finishing well worked move that stunned the West African giants and sent the East African supporters into celebration.
Uganda then showed maturity beyond their years defending with discipline and composure to protect the lead until the final whistle.
A historic night for African football
The win marks Uganda’s first ever qualification to the knockout stages of a FIFA men’s tournament at any level — a breakthrough moment for nation rapidly rising in youth development.
The Young Cranes will now face Burkina Faso after win in the round of 32 against germany u17.
In another Round of 32 fixture, England U17 booked their place in the last 16 after 2-0 victory over South Korea.
The opening goal came in the 28 minute through Hui-seop Jung who unfortunately turned the ball into his own net.
Seven minute later, Reigan Heskey — son of former England international Emile Heskey doubled the lead with composed finish in the 35 minute.
