Expectations are high for Jürgen Klopp's Germany team following the 59-year-old's appointment as a replacement for Julian Nagelsmann.

However, Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeneß has warned against expecting too much, stating that the former Borussia Dortmund boss is no “messiah”.

“Personally, I consider Jürgen Klopp a very good coach, I really do. But I’m not a big fan of hero worship,” Hoeneß said in an interview with RTL/Sky.

“He's already being given a status as if he can walk on water. He can’t change everything simply by laying on hands either.”

Hoeneß predicts that Klopp will work very hard and do a lot of things differently, with many things likely to improve as a result.

“But you have to give him time, and above all, you mustn’t believe that he is the messiah,” he underlined.

One aspect of the rebuild is causing particular concern for the 74-year-old, namely the decision to bring in Klopp's long-time agent, Marc Kosicke, to work on strategy, development and innovation.

“What I don’t like about the whole story is that his agent, Marc Kosicke, has been brought in as well,” Hoeneß said, adding that he doesn't know exactly what Kosicke is supposed to do.

“He has a players’ agency, and he is its managing director. He also owns shares in it. I consider that a problem. The whole thing seems like a ‘friendly takeover’ to me. Klopp and co. have taken over the DFB, and I think that is wrong.”
