FC Bayern have reached a decisive phase in the Dayot Upamecano case. The months-long contract negotiations with the French central defender are in danger of collapsing. Munich have waited long enough internally and are now noticeably increasing the pressure on the 27-year-old and his advisor
The poker game surrounding an extension for Upamecano, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been dragging on for months. Despite a highly attractive offer from Bayern’s point of view, the defender has not yet made a final decision. This impasse is causing increasing resentment at Säbener Straße
According to information from Sky, sporting director Max Eberl has now received the go-ahead from the supervisory board. Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge are said to have given the duo the green light to withdraw the current offer in the coming days if Upamecano continues to hesitate. A further improvement to the contract is ruled out

The message from Munich is clear: either Upamecano signs promptly – or FC Bayern are prepared to accept a transfer-free departure in the summer. Internally, they believe they have presented the player with a „squeaky clean“ offer that is hard to beat, both in sporting and financial terms. Patience has now finally run out
Specifically, Bayern are offering the central defender an annual salary of around 20 million euros gross, plus a signing fee in the double-digit million euro range and an exit clause, which is expected to take effect from summer 2027 and amounts to around 65 million euros. The new contract is set to run until 2030 or 2031
The fact that the situation is perceived as increasingly problematic internally is also shown by the latest statements from Honorary President Uli Hoeneß. In an interview with kicker, he said: „I know that he and his family feel very comfortable in Munich. However, I fear that his advisors will do everything they can to steer him away from Munich. I am appalled by this behaviour.“ The Bayern patron could hardly have criticized the role of the player’s side more clearly
There is a growing impression at the club that Upamecano is waiting for an offer from a European heavyweight. According to Sky, those responsible are increasingly assuming that the Frenchman has Real Madrid in particular in his sights. Liverpool, on the other hand, are said to no longer play a role
It became known last week that FC Bayern wanted clarity around the upcoming deadline day. This line is now being consistently pursued. A decision should be made by next week at the latest. If Upamecano does not extend his contract, Munich will withdraw their offer.
