Leeds United return to Elland Road on Monday evening looking to extend their unbeaten start to the Premier League season, with Daniel Farke's side taking on Matthias Jaissle's Newcastle United in an 8pm kick-off.

The Whites have taken five points from their opening three matches and have lost just once in their last 12 Premier League games, while Newcastle arrive in Yorkshire having also picked up five points from their first three fixtures.

1. Leeds are unbeaten so far this season

Leeds have made an unbeaten start to the 2026/27 Premier League campaign, winning at Nottingham Forest before drawing with Brentford and Brighton.

In fact, the Whites have lost just one of their last 12 Premier League matches, winning five and drawing six. Only three times previously - in 1995/96, 1998/99 and 2001/02 - have Leeds avoided defeat in each of their opening four games of a Premier League season.

2. Leeds are pressing with real intensity

One of the most encouraging numbers from the opening weeks of the season is Leeds' work without the ball.

The Whites have applied 528 high-intensity pressures in the opposition half, the second-most of any Premier League side this season. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has accounted for 134 of those pressures, with only Oliver McBurnie recording more among individual players.

3. Calvert-Lewin's impressive record against Newcastle

If Leeds are looking for a goalscorer on Monday night, the numbers point towards Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Newcastle are the opponent against whom the striker has scored the most Premier League goals, with seven, while his nine goal involvements against them are also his highest against any side.

Calvert-Lewin was also on target in the corresponding fixture last season, scoring Leeds' second goal in the thrilling 4-3 defeat at St James' Park.

4. Leeds have already shown they can hurt Newcastle

The most recent meeting between the sides was a seven-goal thriller, with Leeds twice taking the lead and then going 3-2 ahead through Brenden Aaronson's second goal of the night.

Newcastle eventually won 4-3, but Leeds' three goals came from Aaronson, Calvert-Lewin and Aaronson again, while the Whites recorded 1.89 xG compared with Newcastle's 2.45.

5. There could be goals late on

Leeds have shown an ability to find the net in the latter stages of games this season.

The Whites have scored three goals in their opening three matches, with two of those coming between the 76th and 90th minutes. Newcastle, meanwhile, have scored six goals, including one in the 31st-45th minute, two between half-time and 60 minutes and another in the 61st-75th minute.

6. Newcastle have been vulnerable to shots

There is an obvious opportunity for Leeds to test the Newcastle defence.

The Magpies have faced 61 shots in their opening three Premier League games - more than any other side in the division - at an average of 20.3 per match.

No side has averaged 20 or more shots faced per game across an entire Premier League campaign since Opta's records began in 2003/04.

8. Leeds already have three different scorers

Leeds' three goals in the Premier League this season have been shared between Jayden Bogle, Anton Stach and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, demonstrating the different sources of attacking threat within Farke's side.

Bogle scored the opener against Brighton, Stach's late free-kick secured victory at Nottingham Forest, while Calvert-Lewin found the net against Brentford.

9. Opta gives Leeds the edge

And finally, the numbers give Leeds reason for optimism.

Opta's pre-match win probability model gives the Whites a 40.3% chance of victory, compared with 33.0% for Newcastle, with a 26.6% probability of a draw.

With Leeds unbeaten in their opening three matches, and Newcastle having conceded 61 shots already this season, the numbers suggest another intriguing night could be in store at Elland Road.
