FLW's Derby fan pundit has shared their thoughts on the permanent addition of David Ozoh and whether David Clowes deserves praise

Derby County have ended the summer transfer window on a high after an exceptional deadline day, as at one stage, it appeared as though the Rams had slipped backwards under head coach John Eustace.

Having completed deals for Bobby Clark, Sammie Szmodics, Filip Bilbija, and Charlie Taylor early on in the window, it looked as though Derby were in for another strong transfer window.

A proposed takeover from Saudi Arabian government official Turki Alalshikh was on the cards, as Eustace prepared himself for extra funds to play with. However, that deal fell through, as the Rams' transfer plans were scuppered.

Ben Brereton Diaz and Hamza Choudhury would both reject moves to Pride Park in favour of Sheffield United, and all of a sudden, Derby's transfer window had hit a brick wall, but deadline day rescued their summer and then some.

Prior to September 1st, Derby had completed deals for each of Alex Mowatt, Ryan Hedges, and Henrik Meister to take their summer tally up to seven, but with long-term injuries to the likes of Patrick Agyemang, Matt Clarke, Derry Murkin, and Lewis Travis, Eustace's side remained noticeably short in certain areas.

Derby, with just hours remaining, then managed to complete deals for each of Eiran Cashin, Mohammad Fuseini, and David Ozoh, with the latter arriving for around £4 million, as the two former joined on loan.

Cashin and Ozoh both return to Pride Park after previous spells there, with Ozoh making the move to the club for the third time in his career at just 21, this time for good, penning a five-year deal with the club.

Football League World's Derby fan pundit, Shaun Woodward, has shared their thoughts on the permanent addition of Ozoh, and whether chairman Clowes deserves the lion's share of the praise.

Shaun said: "Yeah, what can you say about David Clowes that hasn't already been said? The guy is just simply an unbelievable chairman to have put his hand in his pocket yet again.

"To have reportedly paid £4 million for Ozoh over a five-year contract. So that takes it to £10 million for him and Bobby Clark. Two young, super talented kids that could lead this team for many years to come, and hopefully push us to the Premier League. At the very least, there are two players there that could make Derby a lot of money if they progress the way that we think they will.

"So to finally see David Ozoh as a permanent player at Derby is an amazing thing to see, because I didn't think we were going to get him, and even last night it looked like it wasn't going to happen. So to see that it went through, I think I speak on behalf of all Derby fans that we are absolutely over the moon that we've managed to get him in, because centre-midfield is a position that we are lacking some drive and some power in there.

"He ticks every box, and if he can stay fit then we've got one of the best players in the Championship in his position. So I'm just so excited to see him and Bobby Clark linking up again. And the fact that they're both now Derby players permanently, it looks really bright for the future. David Clowes, where do you want your statue?"

John Eustace will be delighted with Derby County's deadline day after a tricky summer window

Though the window didn't go exactly as he would have hoped, Eustace will nevertheless be delighted with the way things panned out in the end, having reunited with three of his loan players from last campaign and completing some other important business.

The 46-year-old can now fully focus on the season ahead and take one eye off transfers for now, with his squad set until at least January.

Ozoh could prove to be a bargain at £4 million, as Clowes' continued backing and investment into the club has been lauded by Rams supporters, including Shaun.
