Under-15s thrash Atlético Paulista; under-17s suffer setback

On Saturday morning, the U-15 and U-17 teams faced Clube Atlético Paulista for the first time in history at CFA Laudo Natel, in Cotia (SP), in the fourth round of the Paulista Championship. The U-15 side cruised to a 6-0 win, with goals from Yahgo (3), Enzo Henrique, Victor Israel, and Juninho, while the U-17 team suffered a 3-1 defeat, with Brenno scoring São Paulo’s goal.

From the opening whistle, the U-15 side put the opponent under pressure and controlled possession in the attacking half. In the 10th minute, the team was rewarded after a brilliant play by Juninho, who brought the ball down skillfully, beat a defender, and set up Yahgo to open the scoring. In the 19th minute, the duo combined again, this time from a set piece. Juninho delivered a perfect corner and Yahgo rose to head home and make it two. In the 24th minute, goalkeeper Felipe Ávila was called into action and made a good save. Two minutes later, Pietro won the ball in midfield and played a through ball to Yahgo, who calmly picked his spot to complete his hat-trick and extend São Paulo’s lead.

After the break, São Paulo found it harder to turn their dominance into goals. However, after the 30-minute mark, the team took off and scored three more times to seal the rout. After an error in the opponent’s build-up, Enzo Henrique regained possession, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and scored the fourth. In the 33rd minute, Guilherme produced a beautiful backheel pass to Vitinho, who finished with class to add another. Then, in the 34th minute, after Geovanny won the ball back, Juninho popped up to score and cap off the Tricolor rout.

In the 11 a.m. match, the U-17 team conceded in the very first minute after the opponent converted a penalty.

São Paulo’s first chance came in the 23rd minute, when Zabarelli won the ball and passed to Brenno, who tried to chip the goalkeeper but was denied by a save made with the keeper’s face. In the 27th minute, João Bispo pushed forward down the flank and crossed for Robert, who controlled on the turn and struck with his left foot, but the opponent made a great save. In the 30th minute, Zabarelli tried a curling shot from the edge of the box, but the ball hit the angle of the goal.

After halftime, the opponent extended the lead in the 7th minute and scored again in the 15th. São Paulo still created chances from set pieces but could not turn them into goals. In the 44th minute, Brenno pulled one back for São Paulo from the penalty spot.

The teams’ next match will be on Saturday (23) against Votoraty in Votorantim, in the fifth round of the Paulista Championship. The U-15 team will play at 9 a.m., while the U-17 team takes the field at 11 a.m.
