Under-17s beat Stuttgart in friendly at Cotia

On Thursday (30), São Paulo’s U-17 team defeated Stuttgart’s U-17 team 3-0 in a friendly match held at CFA Laudo Natel in Cotia. São Paulo’s goals were scored by Erick, Mikael and João Bispo.

The friendly celebrated the partnership between São Paulo and VfB Stuttgart, which aims to promote the exchange of knowledge, players and training methodologies, as well as strengthen ties between the two clubs through football.

During their stay in Brazil, the German delegation was hosted at the CFA Laudo Natel facilities in Cotia, where they made full use of the training center’s structure, including the pitches, gym and auditorium, experiencing up close the development environment of the Made in Cotia players.

In Thursday’s match, Tricolor built the win in the first half. In the very first minute, Erick took advantage of a loose ball at the edge of the box and struck a first-time shot into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. In the 16th minute, Mikael fired from outside the box and found the top corner to extend São Paulo’s lead with another great goal.

The third goal came in the 22nd minute. Artur Kapaz carried the ball through the middle and found Zabarelli, who produced a backheel pass to João Bispo. The full-back chipped the goalkeeper on his way out and scored a fine goal to make it 3-0. In the second half, the team continued to control the game and did not concede.

After the match, VfB Stuttgart ambassador Cacau spoke about the team’s experience in Cotia.“We spent ten days here in Cotia with VfB Stuttgart’s U-17 team, and it was a very positive experience for everyone. For them, it was a chance to step out of the reality and culture of Germany and experience something completely different here in Brazil. We had already known Cotia since last year and, once again, we were very well received. Everyone was impressed by the hotel facilities, the pitches, the food and, above all, the way we were treated. All of that made the days go by very quickly and made us truly feel at home. The quality of the facilities and services was a standout,” said the ambassador.

Brazilian player Guilherme Cordeiro, a forward for Stuttgart’s U-17 team, also spoke about his experience at the CFA.

“The facilities here are very good and we were welcomed really well. The rest of the team liked it a lot too. They told me the training center is very beautiful and has everything a player needs. Here, the focus is very clear: developing players and preparing them for major challenges. It’s like a talent factory,” said the winger.

The player, who previously played for the club’s futsal team, commented on reuniting with the Tricolor squad.

“I know some of the players here because I played for São Paulo (the futsal team) about six years ago before going to Germany. I played with Erick, for example. It was really nice to see him again and be able to play against him. Now we’re on different sides, but it was special to see him again. One cool thing was seeing that they recognized Lucas Moura on the mural at the training center. He’s a player everyone knows, and that shows the strength of São Paulo’s history in developing athletes,” the Brazilian concluded.
